What are text-formatting tags and how to use them?

Text-formatting tags are graphical elements that represent text formatting in the source segment such as bold, italic, underline, hyperlinks and more. At Ailaysa Transeditor, a formatted text in the source segment will be shown enclosed within a numbered pair of Text-formatting tags in blue colour.

To copy text formatting from the source segment to the target segment:

  1. When a target segment is clicked, as we know, the translation appears. Also, all the tags that appeared in the source segment now appear in the target segment at the end of the sentence.
  2. Once your post-editing is carried out. You can place the tags in it.
  3. Select an opening tag by clicking it. (An opening tag points to the right)
  4. Place the cursor at the required position in the target segment. Now the tag is moved to the new position.
  5. Repeat the procedure for the corresponding closing tag as well. This applies the corresponding source segment text formatting to the text enclosed in tags in the target segment.
  6. Confirm the segment to save the changes.
  7. Repeat the procedure for all segments with tags in the task.
  8. In some cases, opening and closing tags may not appear in the same segment. Just keep them as they are.

Applying text-formatting tags is not mandatory. If you skip applying tags, text-formatting will not be present in the output file.
